The Scourge Mistress' Bane is a passive feature that can apply Bane but will hurt the wielder if they are too healthy.
Description
Chance to inflict upon the target a 1d4 penalty to Attack Rolls and Saving Throws. If the attacker still has 50% or more hit points, they take 1d6Piercing themselves.
A Baned creature receives a 1d4 penalty to Attack Rolls and Saving Throws.
Condition: Bane
How to learn
Granted by the weapons:
Notes
- The Bane condition applied by this weapon is the same as the Bane spell and does not stack.
- Because of the bug listed below, the Battle Master Fighter's Sweeping Attack applies this debuff to every target within the cone's area of effect, hit or miss.
- Many situations increase the self-damage dealt by this passive feature:
- The Savage Attacker feat results in secondary damage being re-rolled higher.
- A critical hit with this axe doubles the self-damage.
- Some damage riders such as Lightning Charges, radiant damage from the Callous Glow Ring and Psionic Overload increase the self-damage.
- Effects which reduce incoming piercing damage reduce the self-inflicted damage.
- However, as the self-damage is classified as magical, effects like Heavy Armour Master do not help, but Blade Ward and Magical Plate do.
- If at 50% health or higher, the wielder suffers self-damage even if the target dies from the axe blow.
Bugs
- While the item description says 'chance,' the chance to inflict Bane on hit is 100%.
- If at 50% health or higher and an enemy is knocked out by Non-Lethal Damage with this axe, the wielder is also knocked out, even at full HP.
