- The saving throws against the explosion and smokepowder surface ignition share the same DC, but are independent rolls.
- The barrel will explode if thrown or placed onto a fire surface
- Creatures on the outer edge of the blast radius may take no damage from the smokepowder igniting (but be knocked back and take explosion damage)
- The barrel will explode if thrown near the edge of a fire surface (even if it lands outside it)
- The barrel will not explode if it is thrown well outside a fire surface (the smokepowder will ignite if its area overlaps the fire surface)
- If the barrel impacts sufficiently close to the thrower, it will not explode even if it lands directly on a fire surface (the smokepowder will still ignite)
