Notes
- Removing a Whispering Mask from an unconscious NPC will kill them if the hag is still alive.
- While Auntie Ethel is alive, the wearer of this mask must make a Wisdom saving throw every turn. If failed, they become a Hag's Pawn (controlled by Auntie Ethel). If a player character equips the mask in the entrance gallery, for example, that character will attack the party; if all four characters equip the mask, the Game Over screen appears. If all the unaffected characters run away from combat (e.g. back to the Tea House), leaving no one to attack, the remaining mask-affected character will be able to unequip the mask after making a wisdom saving throw.
- The negative effects of this mask can be prevented by casting before equipping the mask. In this case, the NPC mask wearers (e.g. Mask of Vengeance, etc) will not attack the wearer, and the poison gas clouds in Ethel's lair will dissipate.
- If Auntie Ethel is dead, the mask can be worn with no ill effects.
- : Can see objects hidden to the unaided eye. This allows you to pass through locked vine doors, including the one in the Overgrown Tunnel X: -351 Y: 581, behind which lies an alternative entrance to the Underdark.
