- However, each use of Ray of Sickness granted by this staff deals 2d4Poison damage to the caster.
- Poisoner's Robe adds 1d4Poison to both outgoing and incoming damage.
- Ring of Poison Resistance or Elixir of Poison Resistance can halve the damage to the caster.
- The Staff of Crones is one of the items that can be given to Gale for his condition.
