Notes
- Tavern Brawler adds the attacker's Strength modifier to the attack roll and damage a second time.
- Monk's Martial Arts: Deft Strikes replaces the 1 base damage of an Unarmed Strike with 1d4. This increases to 1d6 at monk level 3 and 1d8 at monk level 9.
- Monk's Martial Arts: Dextrous Attacks may replace the Strength modifier normally added to the damage of Unarmed Strikes with the Dexterity modifier if it is higher. In either case, the bonus damage from Tavern Brawler always uses the Strength modifier.
- Many buffs and features which specify that they apply to "weapon attacks", such as Divine Smite, do not apply to Unarmed Strikes.
- For a comprehensive list of effects that interact with Unarmed Strikes, see: List of features and items that interact with unarmed strikes.
Bugs
- Items and features that add a damage roll to Unarmed Strikes without monk's Martial Arts: Deft Strikes cause the damage tooltip to display as 0d20 + Strength modifier + the additional bonus damage. The base Bludgeoning damage is still dealt correctly.
