The Soul-Sworn Contract is a document created when the player accepts Raphael's deal.

Overview

In return for signing the contract, Raphael gives the player the Orphic Hammer in order to to free Orpheus. In exchange, the player must deliver the Crown of Karsus to Raphael after having defeated the Netherbrain.

Raphael will first attempt to make this deal in Sharess' Caress as part of Deal with the Devil. If the party refuses the deal, never fights Raphael, and then refuses to cooperate with the Emperor during Confront the Elder Brain, Raphael will appear again and force the player to sign the contract to obtain the Orphic Hammer. Refusing the deal at this point will lead to a Game Over screen.

Escape the Deal

Should the player want to renege on their word, they must find a way to enter Raphael's abode, the House of Hope, and destroy the contract. The contract is located in the Archive room of the House but is protected by an energy field which requires a password to disable.

This password can be found in the Boudoir of the House and can be acquired in various ways:

  • Pass a DC 18 Perception check to notice a button underneath Raphael's portrait, and a DC 20 Sleight of Hand check to disarm the portrait and access the hidden safe behind it.
  • Have an intimate moment with Haarlep without losing their body and mind

WARNING: Attempting to fight Raphael before destroying the Soul-Sworn Contract will cause him to destroy the player character's soul and lead to a Game Over screen.
