Nubaldin is a rock gnome under the employ of Raphael as the keeper of the Chamber of Egress within the House of Hope. He is self-important and easily angered, wistful about the days he was in charge of the House's prison, before he made a mistake and was reassigned.

History

Nubaldin was previously in charge of Raphael's prison, with one of his charges a young Enver Gortash, who was sold to Raphael by his parents to pay off a debt. Nubaldin ordered Gortash around during his time in the House,[1] disliking him greatly and beating him for his own enjoyment.

Gortash eventually escaped and, as the one responsible for him, Nubaldin was punished by Raphael for this oversight. Nubaldin was moved to the Chamber of Egress, until such a time that Raphael could find someone to replace him.[text 1]

Involvement

Nubaldin is found in the Chamber of Egress; the eastern room in the House of Hope filled with portals to different locations. The player can ask Nubaldin for help finding Hope, and he will inform them that her corporeal form is locked in unbreakable chains in Raphael's dungeon.

If Gortash is alive, the player can ask to see the prison, but must pass a Persuasion or Intimidation check, or read his mind, to discover that the entrance is left of the chamber's exit, and down a hatch that leads below the House.

If the player has killed Gortash, Nubaldin will be delighted to hear of it, and will tell them a secret entrance into the boudoir: through the balcony next door. He will also be more than happy to tell them the way to the prison, no checks required.
