Countermeasures are hostile Aberration creatures in Baldur's Gate 3 that may appear during the fight Atop the Netherbrain depending upon the party's choices during the Confront the Elder Brain quest.

About[edit | edit source]

Four Countermeasures are created by the Netherbrain if the party chose to trust The Emperor and allow him, a Full-Illithid player character, or Full-Illithid Karlach to consume Orpheus. They are designed to both mimic and counter the specific classes of the characters within the party. They only appear during the final battle Atop the Netherbrain.

Tactics[edit | edit source]

Countermeasures are generally effective against the classes that they are mimicking. For example, the Spellplague has the Magic Resistance passive, Resistance to fire, cold, and lightning damage, and can cast Counterspell, making it more difficult for Wizards to deal with. Consider fighting different countermeasures with members of your party who aren't countered by them.

Countermeasure class variants[edit | edit source]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • If a character is multi-classed then the type of countermeasure is randomly selected from among its classes.
  • Countermeasures have 4 character models, each of which is always used during the final battle.
  • Most of the countermeasures don ot really live up to their name. Most do not have any abilities or powers that counter a character class, they are just a variant of that class; e.g. Paladin countermeasure is just a weak Paladin. A more effective "countermeasure" would have been a Death Knight or something with Radiant Retort.
