Vampire Bite

Vampire Bite is a unique action available to Astarion. It can be used without breaking stealth, deals piercing damage, heals Astarion, and increases Astarion's abilities while debilitating the target.

  • Origin Astarion gets access to Vampire Bite action after completing the prologue and waking up at the beach.
  • Companion Astarion gets access to Vampire Bite action after he is outed as a vampire.

Description

Suck the blood from a living creature to regain Hit Points. The target takes 2d4PiercingPiercing damage, unless it is SleepingSleeping or you are HidingHiding.

If the target is Humanoid, you become HappyHappy and the target becomes BloodlessBloodless.

Biting a creature does not break stealth.

Notes

  • When compared to the special features and unique abilities of other origins, Astarion'sAstarion's Vampire Bite stands out not only for its immediate combat potential but its long lasting resultsresults as well.
  • Attempting to use this on Karlach inflicts neither Happy nor Bloodless, nor will Astarion be healed. Instead, Astarion gains 3 turns of BurningBurning. Similarly, Attempting to use it on Gale inflicts 3 turns of PoisonedPoisoned on Astarion.
  • Attempting to use this on a dead body, such as an opponent just killed in battle, does not inflict Happy, but instead inflicts 3 turns of PoisonedPoisoned on Astarion.
  • This cannot be used on Undead, Plant, Elemental, Ooze, and Construct creature types.
  • This cannot be used on PetrifiedPetrified creatures.
  • Companions confront origin Astarion about his vampirism if he uses this action in front of them without having previously revealed his condition to them.
  • Using this ability on companions causes them to lose some approval, unless the player character is dating them.
