Bane (spell)

Bane is a level 1 enchantment spell. It allows the caster to temporarily curse enemies, making their attacks miss more often and weakening their Saving Throws.

Description

Up to 3 creatures receive a -1d4 penalty to  Attack rolls and  Saving throws.

How to learn

Classes:

• Class level 1: Bard, and Cleric
• Class level 3: Oath of Vengeance (Oath Spell)

Granted by features:

•  Magic Initiate: Bard
•  Magic Initiate: Cleric

Other ways to learn:

• Also granted to Warlocks who choose the Eldritch Invocation  Thief of Five Fates at level 2+. When gained in this way, the spell can be cast once per Long Rest using a Warlock Spell Slot.

Notes

The incantation for Bane is Tu Es Nihil, Latin for "you are nothing".
