Simple Weapons are weapons that are easy to learn and use. Any commoner can wield simple weapons in combat. Every classes except Druid, Monk, Wizard, are proficient with all type of simple weapons at level 1.

When attacking with a Simple Weapon without proficiency:

  • You can not add your Proficiency Bonus (Strength for Melee Weapons, Dexterity for Ranged Weapons)
  • You suffer a -4 penalty to your Attack rolls.

Every classes except Druid, Wizard, Sorcerer are proficient with all type of simple weapons at level 1.

  • Druids are proficient with clubs, daggers, darts, javelins, maces, quarterstaffs, sickles, slings, spears.
  • Wizards are proficient with daggers, darts, slings, quarterstaffs, light crossbows.
  • Sorcerers are proficient with daggers, darts, slings, quarterstaffs, light crossbows.
