Zanner Toobin is a Rock Gnome, first found in the Steel Watch Foundry. If helping to save the kidnapped Gondians in the Iron Throne, he becomes an Attached Follower while progressing through the Foundry.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

If the party has not yet traveled to the Iron Throne, they can find Zanner Toobin in the back room of the Steel Watch Foundry. He will inform them that the Gondians dare not fight back against the Banites for fear of killing the hostages in the Iron Throne. The party can either choose to heed his pleas and free the hostages first, or ignore them and turn all the Gondians hostile.

If the party successfully rescues the hostages and returns, they will find Zanner leading an uprising on the main floor of the Foundry against Tamia Holzt Tamia Holzt and her allies. After defeating them, Zanner will mention that he knows a secret passcode to make the foundry self-destruct and the party can either agree to take him with them as a temporary companion or tell him to flee since they have the Runepowder Bomb. If Zanner becomes a temporary companion, he will follow the party and aid them in combat until they reach the doors to the Control Centre, where he senses the power of the Steel Watcher Titan and warns the party that he can't hope to survive against it. He remains outside the entrance of the control centre until the titan dies.

Dialogue[edit | edit source]

Ambient: Steel Watch Foundry, Lab Level

"I smell death and decay. We're near cadaver preparation, aren't we? Poor bastards are shipped in from all over the Realms. Most come from a fellow called Balthazar by way of Moonrise Towers."

Conversation: Control Centre "Antechamber"
The following lines from Zanner are interspersed between other character dialogue lines.

"Wait, Elevated gyroscopes, triple-set quadropecs. No - it can't be."
"I hear it through the floor - powerful. Indestructible. The ultimate Watcher - the Titan."
"It shames me to admit this but you must face this beast of Gondian folly alone - I would be crushed in an instant."
"When it raises its shields, strike it with every scrap of magic and might you posess - and pray to Gond that it does not fire upon you. Good luck, my friend."

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • While out of combat, Zanner has minor ambient dialogue for certain parts of the Steel Watch Foundry Lab Level, connecting the Steel Watch foundry's story to certain events and characters from Act Two.
