Notes
- A character receives this condition when looting any item from the offering chests in the Stormshore Tabernacle basement or when killing Vicar Humbletoes.
- Using the "Send To CHARACTER" option counts as that character having looted the chest if the character is in the current party.
- Vicar Humbletoes refuses to speak to any characters who have recieved this condition. This persists for the remainder of the playthrough, even if the curse is removed or if that character has donated to the gods at the Tabernacle.
- This condition replaces
Anointed in Splendour if the character has received it. If deliberately acquiring the curse it is best to do so before making donations to the gods in the main Tabernacle.
- The 'terrible envoy of the offended deity' is a deva, djinni, or cambion depending on the character who is afflicted:
- For any character that is not a cleric, the enemy is a deva.
- For afflicted clerics, the type of enemy is determined base on the cleric's chosen deity, as follows:
- Devas: Bahamut, Corellon Larethian, Eilistraee, Garl Glittergold, Ilmater, Lathander, Mielikki, Moradin, Mystra, Selûne, Shar (if Nightsong is freed), Tymora, Tyr, or Yondalla.
- Djinn: Tempus, Helm, Kelemvor, or Oghma.
- Cambions: Gruumsh, Laduguer, Lolth, Shar (if Nightsong is killed), Tiamat, Talos, or Vlaakith.
- If the afflicted character dies or is cured via
Remove Curse, one enemy is spawned. This occurs regardless of how many times the curse is received.
- If the afflicted character is healed, then takes a short rest or long rest before dying, two enemies are spawned. This only occurs once per character, regardless of how many times they receive the curse.
- Spawning a deva with this curse is a common way to acquire the powerful Deva Mace they carry.
- The debuff is received when looting just a single item from one of the chests. Splitting any stack of items (including gold) contained in the chests creates a new cursed item for each new item generated, as does adding items from the character's inventory to the chest. This means that without killing Vicar Humbletoes and individually splitting and looting each item on a different character, it is possible to inflict the debuff on 10 different party members using the loot contained within the chests. Additionally, any items or gold donated at the statues within the Stormshore Tabernacle appear in these chests, making the number of times the curse can be applied limited only by the items and gold the party has. Simultaneously healing all affected party members in camp summons two enemies for each of them.
Spawning too many planar beings at once may crash the game.
- Nearby characters may become hostile to the summoned enemies, resulting in the characters becoming temporary allies of the party. XP is still gained for any of the summons killed, and the party receives no penalty for NPC allies killed in this manner. This can be taken advantage of to clear an area by "summon bombing" it. For example the Basilisk Gate Barracks can be cleared in this manner.
- Should the party break into the basement of Stormshore Tabernacle and pillage any offering chests, they gain this condition. Each item taken from a chest inflicts this condition if the character taking it does not already have the condition.
- The curse is tied to the chest, not the items. Destroying the chests cause the items to fall out, picking up the items afterwards allows to avoid being cursed.
- The curse only affects items taken out of the offering chests and placed in the current party's inventory. Sending the items to camp or to a character in camp results in the curse being avoided. Dragging items to the ground works, too.
