Graveyard is a location in the Lower City of Baldur's Gate in Act Three. It is located on the northern end of the Lower City, north of the the Elfsong Tavern and the Forge of the Nine.

Overview

Mortuary

Main article: Mortuary

The mortuary is located on the east end of the graveyard. A locked hatch beside the porch stairs leads to the Mortuary's Cellar.

Inside the building, Valmorba prepares bodies for burial.

On the porch, Anita and Elias Fischer are distraught that they can't get a coffin made for their recently deceased child. The player may convince the coffin maker Ulkov Sully behind the morgue to make a coffin for the child.

Mortarch Gracie Scyra alternates between speaking to the unfortunate couple and patrolling the graveyard to prevent anyone from digging up the graves. She will join the player in combat if they instigate a fight with either the undead or kobolds mentioned below.

Mausoleums

Four locked ( DC 10 Sleight of Hand check) mausoleums lead to new areas: the Grand Mausoleum, Durinbold Mausoleum, Gorion Mausoluem and Hhune Mausoleum. Note that some of these mausoleums have traps or undead enemies in them.

Graveyard

  • Nina Dortmell is trying to resurrect her recently deceased brother. The party may either help her or convince her to leave him be.
    • Helping her spawns 3 Zombies, 2 Greater Zombies, 2 Skeletons, and Garret Dortmell, a Death Shepherd that buffs the other summoned undead with significant additional durability.
    • If spoken to after helping Nina, Mortarch Gracie Scyra will chastise the player for teaching the little girl necromancy, comparing it to leaving a poisoned cake out in a park where a child can eat it.
  • Maude can be found selling flowers on the west side of the graveyard.
  • If Karlach is in the party, she will point out her parents’ graves to the player. They are in the middle aisle of the Graveyard. If interacted with, Karlach will speak to her parents' graves, telling them of what she's been up to.
  • If Shadowheart is in the party, she will comment on the grave of Allister Marnley, located next to the south entrance of the Graveyard with a 'Happy Birthday' note. You can also plant a Night Orchid in front of the grave for a small additional comment.
  • Down the steps from the Mortuary is a grave with dirt pile that has a pipe sticking out of it (a Perception check will highlight it). If clicked on, a voice can be heard from the pipe. Digging up the grave exposes a coffin, and opening it releases Gothric Rillyn, who was apparently buried alive by The Stone Lord as punishment for theft.
  • The grave marked "M. Kurwin" has a dirt pile in front of it that can be dug up to reveal a Kobold named Bugthimble who aggressively claims the treasures hidden in the grave. The player can then either Intimidate or fight Bugthimble and their kobold allies to take the treasure and Kurwin's Cauteriser for themselves. However passing a Deception check will instead result in Bugthimble fleeing with Kurwin's Cauteriser in hand. The player may remark that the name "M. Kurwin" sounds familiar to them if they read the Tough Letter in Act 1.
