(Redirected from Gorion Mausoluem)

“ | Here lies Lord Gregorion Gorion, First High Constable of Baldur's Gate, the city's protector. |
„ |
Overview[edit | edit source]
The aboveground to the mausoleum is through a locked gate beneath the graveyard's willow tree. A sarcophagus holds the remains of Lord Gregorian Gorion, First High Constable of Baldur's Gate. Gorion was known for his heroism, sage mind, and kind heart.
The hole west of the sarcophagus is used to access Durinbold Mausoleum, while the crumbling wall on the east end can be destroyed to access Hhune Mausoleum.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- It is unclear whether Lord Gregorian Gorion is supposed to be the Gorion from Baldur's Gate 1, or somehow related to him. To prevent confusion, Lord Gregorian Gorion is referred to as Lord Gorion, and Gorion from Baldur's Gate 1 as Monk Gorion in the following notes.
- The city of Baldur's Gate dates back to at least the 5th century DR, and was already a widely recognized power in the 1200s. Monk Gorion, on the other hand, was born around 1300 DR. (See also the article on Gorion on the Forgotten Realms wiki.) It seems very unlikely but not completely impossible that the city did not have its first High Constable until after ~1300 DR.
- Monk Gorion was an adventurer who traveled with the Harpers, and moved to Candlekeep around 1350 DR to raise Gorion's Ward. He lived there for about 20 years, until his death. It seems unlikely that he would have been employed as High Constable of Baldur's Gate at any point in his life.
- Monk Gorion died near Lion's Way, in the vicinity of Candlekeep, making a burial there more expedient than one in Baldur's Gate (located 120 miles north).
- Monk Gorion is never referred to by any other name or title. For example, he is never referred to as Lord Gorion or as Gregorian. The name Gorion generally seems to be used as his only name in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.
- The only similarity between Monk Gorion and Lord Gorion, apart from the name, is that they were both heroes and sages renowned for their wisdom.
- There are various continuity and lore consistency issues between Baldur's Gate 3 and the previously established lore of the city of Baldur's Gate and the events of the past games. Therefore, it may have been intended that Lord Gorion and Monk Gorion be one and the same, despite the aforementioned inconsistencies.
