Silver Sword of the Astral Plane is a legendary greatsword that grants special bonuses when wielded by a githyanki.

The fervour with which the githyanki express devotion to their queen is admirable to some, disquieting to others. When confronted with the fallibility of the divine (since no one is wholly perfect), who knows what reactions such folk might evince.

Special

The holder of this item gains:

• Githborn Psionic Weapon: When wielded by a githyanki this weapon deals an additional 1d6Psychic damage.
• Githborn Psionic Resistance: A githyanki holding this weapon has Advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws, resistance to Psychic damage, and cannot be  Charmed.

Weapon actions

If you have proficiency, equip in main hand to gain:

• Pommel Strike ()

  Make a non-lethal attack against an enemy and possibly  Daze them.

• Lacerate ()

  Slash at your target's vital points to make it  Bleed.

• Cleave ()

  Swing your weapon in a large arc to attack up to 3 enemies at once. They each take half the damage your weapon usually deals.

Special weapon actions

This weapon also grants the following:

• Soulbreaker ()

  Rend the enemy's body and soul, dealing additional Psychic damage equal to your proficiency bonus, and possibly  Stun them.

Where to find

• Rewarded for showing the Orphic Hammer to (or killing) Kith'rak Voss in Act Three.
• As of Patch #4, this sword can alternatively be obtained in Act One by disarming Voss via  Command (Drop),  Heat Metal,  Disarming Attack (Ranged), or  Disarming Attack (Melee) during the githyanki patrol encounter before entering the Mountain Pass X: -139 Y: 561.
  • Voss must be disarmed before beginning combat, as he immediately flies away when any hostile action is taken.
  • Due to his high stats and Supreme Githyanki Parry, the chance of failing the disarm attempt against him is very high, so this method may require multiple reloads.
  • Voss will only drop the sword if the prior cutscene showing the dragon is triggered while Lae'zel is in the party, otherwise he will drop Githyanki Crossbow. Note that Lae'zel will leave the group and run to speak with the Githyanki if you proceed forward after the cutscene, at this point assaulting the Githyanki will turn Lae'zel hostile. Trigger the cutscene with Lae'zel in the party and then immediately dismiss her back to camp before proceeding if you wish to acquire the sword and keep Lae'zel as a companion.

Notes

• The githyanki-exclusive bonuses can also be enabled by being disguised as one. However, you must be disguised before equipping the weapon for this to work.
