The Shadow Lantern is a unique type of Moonlantern which provides a Moonshield and grants the unique Conjure Shadow Lantern Wraith spell.
Encased in a cocoon of shadow within the lantern, the mangled pixie lies like some deformed pupa, its mouth slack, and those same shadows crawling over its graying tongue.

Special
The holder of this item gains:
- Conjure Shadow Lantern Wraith ()
- Cast as a level 6 spell ( Recharge: Long rest.)
Condition: Moonshield
Moonshield
- Protected by the light of a Moonlantern or Shadow Lantern. The Shadow Curse does not affect this entity.
Where to find
- Moonrise Towers X: -150 Y: -165: Gale can craft one from a Broken Moonlantern and Dead Pixie at the table within Balthazar's hidden room.
Notes
- Both ingredients can be found in Baltazar's hidden room.
- See Balthazar's Experiment for more information. While in-game dialogue also allows the slim possibility for the player character to craft this item, the option is only available if Gale is present.
- Merely equipping the lantern in the light source slot is not sufficient to gain the Conjure Shadow Lantern Wraith ability and the Moonshield condition; it must be actively wielded, such as by switching to it via the light source toggle button or equipping it directly in the weapon slot.
- Although not clear from the flavour text's description, the lantern emits a bright sphere of light when used in a weapon slot, providing full protection from the Shadow Curse.
- Unequipping the lantern or switching back to active weapons via the light source toggle button automatically dismisses the conjured Shadow.
Bugs
- Despite being tagged as a Rare item, the in-game tooltip for the lantern is coloured as a Story Item, like any other Moonlantern.
- Despite this spell's name, the creature summoned is a Shadow, not the more powerful Wraith. It is is unable to climb surfaces such as ladders and knotted roots, and is unable to Jump, Fly, or Warp, meaning it may be unable to follow the party to certain areas. Regrouping is possible by entering a new area or using Waypoints.
