• Increased chance of  Wild Magic surge (to 50%).
• Lost immediately after casting a Level 1 or higher Spell and rolling a  Wild Magic Check.

How to learn

Classes:

• Class level 1: Wild Magic (sorcerer subclass)

Notes

• Wild Magic Sorcerers receive 1  Tides of Chaos Charge which is replenished on every Short Rest or Long Rest.
• Normally, a  d20 is rolled each time a levelled spell is cast. If the result is 20, a Surge is triggered. Tides of Chaos reduces the Difficulty Class (DC) to 11 (i.e. a 50% chance).
• Although it is triggered as a reaction, it does not consume a  Reaction resource.
•  Ring of Feywild Sparks makes the chance for the wild magic surge 100%.

Bugs

• Tides of Chaos grants a toggleable passive of the same name that provides Advantage on the character's next Ability Check. When first acquired, the passive defaults to "off" and cannot be toggled "on" until the character completes a short or long rest, makes an ability check, or receives a condition.
• Tides of Chaos does not appear as an option in the "Add Bonus" menu for rolls made via dialogue options when the passive was enabled prior to the dialogue starting.
