Memnos is one of the tiefling refugees seeking shelter in the Emerald Grove in Act One. He and Arka Arka are close friends.

Lathander to light, Selûne to guide, Kelemvor to show mercy -
Memnos, performing last rites for the dead

Involvement edit

Act One edit

Memnos can initially be met at the gates of Emerald Grove in the aftermath of the conflict that was caused by Aradin Beno Aradin and his party being chased by Goblin goblins. He can be found consoling his friend Arka on the Emerald Grove Ramparts, who is grieving the murder of her brother Kanon Kanon. After Arka picks up a crossbow to execute the goblin prisoner Sazza Sazza, he follows her with the intent to calm her down.

If travelling to the Rosymorn Monastery Trail or the Shadow-Cursed Lands before resolving Kagha Kagha's ritual the Rite of Thorns, the tieflings are expelled from the Emerald Grove and Memnos' corpse can be found among the pile of refugees near the bridge to the Blighted Village.

Emerald Grove raid edit

If Minthara Minthara discovers the Grove's location and begins a raid on the grove, Memnos can be found within, praying. Passing a passive DC 10 Religion check reveals that he is cowering, praying in fear to Kelemvor, the god of death. If Lae'zel Lae'zel is present, she chides that she smells cowardice. The party can convince him to rejoin the defence of the grove by passing one of the following checks:

  • [RELIGION] Kelemvor judges cowards more harshly than others. Better if you die in combat. (DC 10) (if passive Religion check passed)
  • [INTIMIDATION] Better if you die in combat then live on as a coward. (DC 15) (if passive Religion check failed)
  • [LAE'ZEL] [INTIMIDATION] I'll kill you myself if you don't grab a weapon and join the line. (DC 10)
  • [BARBARIAN] [INTIMIDATION] FIGHT, COWARD. (DC 15 Advantage Icon.png)
  • [PERSUASION] You have to try. We need every able body, or we're doomed. (DC 15)
  • [BARD] [PERSUASION] Songs will be sung for today's heroes. Do your part, and your name will live on. (DC 10)
  • [FIGHTER] Every fighter was once a novice. Better that than a victim.
  • [CLERIC OF KELEMVOR] My god abhors cowards. If you do nothing, your fate is sealed in his eyes.

If successfully persuaded, Memnos leaves towards the gate and joins the fight. Otherwise, he continues cowering.

Act Two edit

If Memnos survives through Act One, his corpse can be found in the Shadow-Cursed Lands at X: -9 Y: 54 among the other tiefling refugees who failed to reach the Last Light Inn.
