Special
The wearer of this item gains:
- Fiery Return
- When you deal damage with a levelled spell, you yourself and gain an additional Bonus Action this round.
Where to find
- Sorcerous Vault X: 411 Y: 997: In an invisible chest in the vault of Elminster
Notes
- See Invisibility or Faerie Fire can be used to see the invisible chest.
- The conditions for activating the Fiery Return feature are to deal fire damage with a non-cantrip spell or a melee spell attack roll.
- Attacks with Flame Blade count as melee spell attacks so they trigger Fiery Return. However, this is not true of a permanent Flame Blade acquired though the exploit described here or those summoned by a Mephistopheles Tiefling.
- The Daredevil Gloves can turn ranged spell attacks into melee spell attacks so cantrips like Fire Bolt can trigger Fiery Return when paired with the gloves.
- Helldusk Armour and Wet can negate the self-burning effect while still granting the bonus action.
Bugs
- When triggering Fiery Return with a Bonus Action (for example with Metamagic: Quickened Spell), the extra bonus action is consumed immediately.
- Hellcrawler, a class action afforded by the Helldusk Boots, triggers Fiery Return, essentially making Hellcrawler free.
- Searing Smite does not trigger Fiery Return.
