Spectator
More actions
Spectators are a non-playable race and Aberration creature in Baldur's Gate 3. They have four eyestalks that can each cast debilitating rays. The Spectator's multiple eyestalks allow it to cast multiple rays per turn.
About edit
Spectators are a lesser type of Beholder. They are floating creatures with a single huge eye and four eyestalks from which they may cast damaging or debilitating ray attacks.
Where to find edit
Combat edit
Attacks and abilities edit
Spectators use a special kind of resource for their actions called Eyestalk action and can perform two Eyestalk Actions per turn.
Immunities edit
- Maimed
- Prone conditions, such as Prone and Hideous Laughter
- All Surfaces
Honour mode edit
In Patch #7, the Spectator gained a Legendary Action. When struck, the Spectator accumulates stacks of Paranoid Dreams. When it reaches 5 stacks, it uses its reaction to cast Ocular Nightmare. The Legendary Action can be avoided by removing stacks of Paranoid Dreams, either by waiting for it to cast a ray attack or by intentionally moving close to the Spectator to trigger Panicked Sentinel. Any ray attack reduces Paranoid Dreams counter by 1.
Loot edit
- Burnished Ring - dropped by one of the Spectators located in Hope's Prison in the House of Hope.
- The Spectator Eyes - dropped by the Spectator located in the Underdark.
Notes edit
- Some combinations, such as Frightened and Fog, cause the Spectator to teleport even though there is no mention that they are able to do this. There is also no mention of this special movement in the combat log. However, if Blinded (by, for example, using Malice) the Spectator does not teleport.
- A Spectator contained inside the Iron Flask may be used to acquire the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane upon first entering the Mountain Pass in Act One by use of this guide.
Bugs edit
- Spectators may target characters protected by Sanctuary with their ray attacks, contrary to the description of Sanctuary.
