The Brand of the Absolute is an optional permanent bonus that leads to unique dialogue options and powerful item interactions.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

The brand is a combination of the symbols of each of the Dead Three: the black hand of Bane (God) Bane, the bloody skull of Bhaal Bhaal, and the triangle-inset skull of Myrkul Myrkul.

Becoming Branded[edit | edit source]

A party member may become branded by speaking to Gut Gut in the Shattered Sanctum. After branding them, she attempts to mentally connect to their parasite and ask them to join her in her private chapel. After this conversation, Gut no longer offers to brand additional characters, but any party member can receive the brand by speaking to Greez Warlock Greez.

Becoming branded has the following consequences:

  • A one-time disapproval from the following Companions:Astarion disapproves -1 Shadowheart disapproves -1
  • "Branded" appears in the Tags section of the character's Detailed View.
    • The tag may not show up if the character is disguised.
  • "Branded" Dialogue options become available.

The following pieces of equipment require the Absolute's brand to function at their full potential:

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • Tav may not become "Branded" after an attempt in Patch #7, so it is necessary to check if it has succeeded or failed (verified as of 12/25/2024).
  • The Ring of Absolute Force fully functions even if the wearer is not branded.
