How to learn
Classes:
- Class level 6: Shadow Magic
Used by creatures: Hound of Ill Omen
Notes
- The save for this attack uses the hound's spell save DC, not the sorcerer's. It is based on the hound's Wisdom, so the only way to increase the DC is to consume a Elixir of Battlemage's Power with the hound.
- If the target fails its save, the omen applied to it is randomly determined by a series of dice rolls.[See: Bugs]
- Omen of Acid has a 50% chance of being applied.
- Omen of Cold has a 25% chance of being applied.
- Omen of Fire has a 12.5% chance of being applied.
- Omen of Lightning has a 6.25% chance of being applied.
- Omen of Thunder has a 3.125% chance of being applied.
- Omen of Poison has a 3.125% chance of being applied.
- More than one omen can be active on the same target at once, provided that they are different elements. Omens of the same element cannot be applied as one already active; the roll for the element will be skipped and the next element will be rolled for instead.
- The damage to trigger the omen can come from any source.
Bugs
- The method by which each omen condition is rolled for is bugged in comparison to Larian's intended method due to a miscoded
khn function. See the Hound's Omen page for additional information. - After dealing the correct damage type to an enemy afflicted with an omen, the sorcerer receives a condition named "Hound's Omen: Sorcery Point" for one turn which lacks an icon.
- Despite being a melee weapon attack, Ominous Bite is not affected by any damage modifiers that would normally apply to weapon attacks, such as Inquisitor's Might or Elixir of the Colossus.
