Volley

Volley is a Hunter ranger weapon action. This ability allows Hunters to attack every enemy in a large area with a ranged weapon rather than a single target.

Fire a cascade of magical broadheads and bodkin arrows upon nearby foes.

Notes

• During the beta the description was "Fire a cascade of arrows upon nearby enemies.". In release (Patch #2) the description for this skill was blank and in patch 8 it was finally updated to the current description.
• This is used essentially in place of a normal ranged attack. It cannot hit party members, but it can hit other friendly NPCs. Otherwise, there is no drawback to using this over a normal ranged attack.
• Some properties of items are applied to every creature which is hit but some are applied only to a single creature.
  • There does not seem to be a simple rule which creature is affected if only a single creature is affected.
  • It is not obvious which properties apply to every creature and which apply only to a single creature.
  • A list of some useful properties which are applied to every hit enemy:
    •  Amulet of Bhaal: Bleed
    •  Bow of the Banshee: Frightened
    •  Braindrain Gloves: Mental Fatigue
    • All Coatings, excluding: Oil of Diminution (only one creature Reduced, -1 Weapon Enchantment still applies to every roll), Oil of Bane, and all toxins
    •  Encrusted with Frost
    •  Giantbreaker: Reeling
    •  Gloves of Baneful Striking: 1d4 penalty to saving throws
    •  Gloves of Power: Bane
    •  Harold: Bane
    •  Helmet of Arcane Acuity: Arcane Acuity
    •  Radiating Orb
    •  Ring of Spiteful Thunder: Daze
    •  Titanstring Bow: Additional damage
