The Shadowfell is a plane of shadows and claimed as the domain of Shar. It is a location that can be visited through the Gauntlet of Shar in Act Two. Similar to the Astral Plane, gravity is weaker than on the material plane and it is easily possible to jump great distances through the shattered terrain.

The main feature of the Shadowfell in Baldur's Gate 3 is Nightsong's Prison at the very bottom of the path. See Find the Nightsong for a detailed breakdown of the interaction that follows. Regardless of the outcome, taking the portal to the Shadowfell is a point of no return and will lock the party out of several quests and locations. After the Shadowfell the party must confront Ketheric Thorm at Moonrise Towers.
