Lyrthindor is a secret Dark Justiciar in the Gauntlet of Shar. He has hidden himself from Yurgir by separating himself into the many rats that are scattered around the gauntlet. This has inadvertently prevented Yurgir from completing his contract and thus killing Lyrthindor is one solution to Break Yurgir's Contract. To get him to appear you have to attack the rats around the Gauntlet of Shar.

History[edit | edit source]

Lyrthindor was a member of Ketheric Thorm's Dark Justiciar army, during the Sharran occupation of Reithwin Town and its surroundings over a hundred years ago. Originally a husband and father, the plague took his family and Lyrthindor turned to Shar in his grief.[1] He was one of many Sharrans who became a Justiciar through completion of the Gauntlet of Shar's trials, reaching the final test and sacrificing the Nightsong.[1]

As Ketheric's war progressed, Morfred, a member of the Selûnite resistance, made a deal with Raphael to destroy Ketheric's Justiciar army.[text 1][2] Yurgir was sent to the Gauntlet to fulfil Raphael's side of the bargain, his own Infernal Contract stating that he would only be released from service if he killed every single Justiciar.[3] With no intention of actually freeing Yurgir, Raphael offered help to Lyrthindor escape from the slaughter.[1] He gave Lyrthindor the book One Becomes Many, which detailed how to transform into a swarm of rats in order to hide from Yurgir.[text 2]

With Yurgir unable to leave the Gauntlet, and Lyrthindor still in hiding, the two remained there for the next hundred years.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Casting Command (Drop) on Lyrthindor will drop an otherwise unobtainable variant of scimitar, which visually matches Justiciar's Scimitar with none of the special effects, but has a boosted die (1d8) even for a normal scimitar.
