Chop is a Bugbear who butchers humanoids to create Intellect Devourers in the Mind Flayer ColonyX: 663 Y: -74 beneath Moonrise Towers.

Overview

Something has been done to his mind to make him more subservient and obedient, at great cost to his intellect, and he seems distinctly unhappy with the situation; if the party asks him "Why don't I send you to join all these creatures you butchered?" he responds with: "Yes. Yes. Please." Despite his apparent desire for death, he will attack when attacked, possibly due to his apparent inability to ignore or contradict his instructions. When killed, he will remark with his dying breath that he is "free at last".

The exact nature of his affliction is unknown; he is not being directly controlled by a Mind Flayer Parasite, as he does not drop one upon his death.

Involvement

Chop keeps Us locked in a cage, but can be persuaded to give the key to the party. If the party attempts to lockpick the cage in Chop's line of sight, he will initiate a dialogue wherein the party can, again, attempt to persuade Chop to give them the key. Alternatively, the party may simply kill Chop and take the key from his corpse, or pickpocket it from him. Regardless of method, freeing Us will result in receiving Summon Us.

If the party is in the Oubliette, Chop can be heard talking to himself through the walls.

Quotes

Little. Kitty. Dances. To another song. Same. Song. As you?
