Beast Master is one of the Subclasses of Ranger. These Rangers are able to summon an animal companion to aid them in combat and exploration. The companions also gain new features and abilities as the Ranger level increases.

Subclass features[edit | edit source]

Ranger's default armour
This subclass obtains all the features from its base class, Ranger, in addition to its unique features outlined below.

Level 3

Summon Companion Summon Companion
Gain a beast companion that accompanies you on your adventures and fights alongside you.
Bear Companion Bear Companion
Summon a black bear that can endure heavy attacks and draw the enemy's attention with its Goading Roar Goading Roar.
Boar Companion Boar Companion
Summon a boar that can sweep through the battlefield and knock enemies off their feet with its Charge Charge.
Dire Raven Companion Dire Raven Companion
Summon a dire raven that can fly and Blind Blind its enemies.
Wolf Companion Wolf Companion
Summon a wolf that can inflict devastating wounds and knock down enemies with its Lunging Bite Lunging Bite.
Wolf Spider Companion Wolf Spider Companion
Summon a wolf spider that can shoot Webs Webs and Poison enemies with its Bite Bite.

Level 5

Companion's Bond Companion's Bond
The bond between you and your companion grows stronger. Your Proficiency Bonus Proficiency Bonus is added to its Armour Class Armour Class, damage, and Attack rolls (even though this is not stated).
Upgraded HP Icon.png hit points and abilities for your companion and a new visual look.

Level 7

Exceptional Training Exceptional Training
Your companion is now able to Dash Dash, Disengage Disengage, and Help Help as a Bonus action.

The bond between you and your companion has deepened. Your companion gains an Extra Attack Extra Attack whenever they take the Attack action.
