Something has been done to his mind to make him more subservient and obedient, at great cost to his intellect, and he seems distinctly unhappy with the situation; if the party asks him "Why don't I send you to join all these creatures you butchered?" he responds with: "Yes. Yes. Please." Despite his apparent desire for death, he will attack when attacked, possibly due to his apparent inability to ignore or contradict his instructions.
