Interaction

Passing a successful Deception check grants an inspiration point (Grave Prospector) to characters with the Charlatan background, after which Bugthimble will leave and bar the player from gaining the unique weapon.

Intimidating him on behalf of Nine-Fingers will cause him to drop his unique weapon and flee.

Any other dialogue choice will eventually lead to combat. When combat begins, six Kobold Holes will appear, which will spawn additional Kobolds.
