You specialise in unarmed combat, using your hands and control of ki to heal or inflict grievous hurt.

Way of the Open Hand is one of the subclasses of Monk. It can be chosen at level 3. These monks are more specialized in using unarmed attacks to strike their opponents down.

Subclass Features

Level 3

  • Flurry of Blows: Topple: Perform a Flurry of Blows and possibly Prone the target. Costs 1 Ki point.
  • Flurry of Blows: Stagger: Perform a Flurry of Blows and possibly Stagger the target. Costs 1 Ki point.
  • Flurry of Blows: Push: Perform a Flurry of Blows and possibly push the target 5m away. Costs 1 Ki point.

Level 6

  • Manifestation of Body: Passive (Toggle). Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 2-5 necrotic damage. Exclusive with Manifestation of Mind and Manifestation of Soul.
  • Manifestation of Mind: Passive (Toggle). Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 2-5 psychic damage. Exclusive with Manifestation of Body and Manifestation of Soul.
  • Manifestation of Soul: Passive (Toggle). Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 2-5 radiant damage. Exclusive with Manifestation of Body and Manifestation of Mind.
  • Wholeness of Body: Regain half your Ki points. For 3 turns you have an additional Bonus Action and regain 1 Ki point per turn. Recharges on a Long Rest.

Level 9

  • Ki Resonation: Punch: Action. Perform an Unarmed Attack. Debuff a target for 10 turns with Resonance.
  • Ki Resonation: Punch (Bonus Action): Bonus Action. Perform an Unarmed Attack. Debuff a target for 10 turns with Resonance.
  • Ki Resonation: Blast: Costs 1 Ki point. Detonate Resonance on an enemy, dealing 3d6 Force damage to the target and anyone within 5m of the target. The explosion detonates Resonance on nearby targets. DEX save for half damage.
