Connor Vinderblad is the deceased husband of Mayrina. His Undead form can be summoned using the wand Second Marriage. Having only a basic unarmed attack, his offensive capability is limited, but his low AC will lead enemies to target him. Combined with Undead Fortitude preventing one killing blow, he can reliably waste at least two enemy actions.

Connor is permanently afflicted with the Smelly Smelly condition, making him smell bad.

Involvement

Act One

Connor's untimely death drove Mayrina to seek help from the hag Auntie Ethel, who created a magical device to "bring back" Connor in exchange for Mayrina's unborn child. Upon defeating Ethel, you can take the wand Bitter Divorce and use it on Connor's corpse behind the teahouse. If she survived, Mayrina is horrified to see that, contrary to her expectations, Connor is not resurrected as his former self, but only reanimated as an undead zombie. You can either give the wand to Mayrina, or keep it for yourself. If you keep it, it changes to Second Marriage and can summon Connor with an action at any time. If Mayrina is surrendered to Ethel, then using the wand on Connor's corpse resurrects him as a hostile entity.

If Bitter Divorce is used on Connor's corpse without going through the dialogue with Mayrina, Connor will come back to life with 1 HP, and after a short cut-scene will become immediately hostile. Killing Connor yields no experience and causes Bitter Divorce to disappear from the player's inventory. Bitter Divorce can be dropped before killing Connor and picked up again after the fight to avoid this.

Act Three

If Bitter Divorce was given to Mayrina in the first act, Connor can be found with Mayrina again in Old Garlow's Place.

If Bitter Divorce was kept, Mayrina will react to Connor being summoned nearby.

Notes

  • No matter how many times you kill Connor, you cannot use Speak with Dead on him.
  • Connor's body can be picked up by the player and stored at the camp.
  • After killing Connor once, he can no longer be summoned with Bitter Divorce.[See: Bugs]

Bugs

  • There seems to be a bug where you can forcibly resurrect Connor with the wand by double clicking on his body with the wand. If you leave the area and allow him to heal you can kill and resurrect him. This will bring up a new bug where you offer items to him to improve your relationship (bad reputation from attacking him?).
