Efrin is one of Auntie Ethel's victims. He is found in the Entrance Gallery of the Overgrown Tunnel near the Blinded Elf. He is found in a petrified state.

My dearest Efrin, he begged me to halt the deadly disease that ravaged him.
— Auntie Ethel about Efrin's fate

Involvement[edit | edit source]

Act One[edit | edit source]

You can interact with Efrin in one of two situations: when he's petrified, or after you've killed The Hag. If you remove the petrification he dies and you will not have the option to interact with him after you've killed the Hag. If you kill the hag without removing the petrification, then return to Efrin, the curse is broken automatically and Efrin will not die. Note that defeating Ethel without killing her, for instance by taking her deal for Auntie Ethel's Hair, will not lift the curse, and Efrin will still die if interacted with.

While Efrin is petrified[edit | edit source]

When you first meet Efrin, he is petrified. Throwing a Basilisk Oil potion at his feet will cure him of the status condition and begin a conversation with him. During the conversation you learn that he has a disease called "The Bite" (also called Laduguer's Bite). Efrin yells at you for "saving" him while the disease is not cured and he dies.

Casting Speak with Dead on Efrin after he dies provides more information about his life including his surname and family status.

After you kill the Hag[edit | edit source]

After killing the hag, Efrin's curse is broken. He'll begin a conversation with you immediately, warning that he has a disease called "The Bite". Depending on dialogue choices, you can discover that the curse was actually an infliction caused by the hag as well and Efrin is cured as well as freed. He curses the hag, swears he'll repay you for his freedom, and escapes the Tunnel.
