Baldur's Gate 3 takes place in 1492 DR.[1][2][note 1] It immediately follows the events of its prequel, Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, which took place earlier in the same year.[url 1]
This is a non-exhaustive list of dated events noted in-game occurring during and before 1492. This is in chronological order. x

Unknown[edit | edit source]
Olam's Journal (1300s)[edit | edit source]
Olam's Journal begins after Ketheric is slain, elsewhere described as being a hundred years before the beginning of the game.[Needs Verification]
The journal's use of "Darkness" presumably is recording the days since the shadow curse was unleashed. Olam describes it as being as cold as the "Claw of Winter," so we can assume it isn't during Alturiak.
- Darkness 2 — Olam recalls how Ketheric's curse changed the land. [9]
- Darkness 5 — Olam calls his familiar Corvin to him. He searches the land.[9]
- Darkness 18 — Olam finds scrolls by the House of Healing, but doesn't dare enter. [9]
- Darkness 26 — Olam can bear his torment no longer. [9]
Moonhaven Logbook (1372 or later)[edit | edit source]
The year of the Moonhaven Logbook is not given. However, the Apprentice's Journal is dated 3 Uktar 1371.
Further digging in the Apothecary will also dig up the Dark Journal which reveals the apothecaries past as a Red Wizard named Ilyn Toth. It explains why he goes to great pains to note whether visitors to Moonhaven are Thayan or not. The Dark Journal is also dated 1371. However, since this logbook refers to events in earlier months that are certainly after he has gotten established, it is probably not recorded in 1371 but a later year.
- 26 Eleasis — Calishite Merchant Oliver Synge arrives in Moonhaven [10]
- 27 Eleasis — Oliver Synge leaves Moonhaven [10]
- 7 Eleint — A possibly Rashemi stranger passes through Moonhaven [10]

- 2 Uktar — Journeyman Hackett passes through Moonhaven [10]

- 15 Nightal — Oliver Synge passes through Moonhaven without stopping [10]
