Idle banter[edit section | visual editor]

  • Ulder Ravengard
Let us be resolved. Today, we name Lord Enver Gortash as Archduke of Baldur's Gate.
  • Rugger Shattershield
    Aye!
  • Alia Durinbold
    Aye!
  • Dillard Portyr
    ...Aye.
  • Ulder Ravengard
The Council is unanimous. Let our walls be girded with steel!
  • Ulder Ravengard
Dukes, patriars - an army approaches.
  • Ulder Ravengard
An army of evil, an all-conquering force. We must not stand idle as it burns the city to ash!
  • Dillard Portyr
    Yes, but -
  • Ulder Ravengard
Portyr. I will not mire us in endless red tape. Baldur's Gate deserves a true leader, not a council of simpering bureaucrats.
  • Ulder Ravengard
    That leader is Enver Gortash.
  • Enver Gortash
... we identify all enemies within our walls and within our ranks ... (Part of Gortash's monologue)
  • Dillard Portyr
Enemies within? Who do you mean?
  • Enver Gortash
Traitors, Portyr. Any who dares speak ill of Baldur's Gate or its people.
  • Rugger Shattershield
Pardon me saying, Archduke, but do the people require such a heavy hand?
  • Enver Gortash
The people demand it. Is a Baldurian truly free when he fears for his future?
