Flesh
More actions
Flesh is a Flesh Golem, Construct[1] creature in Baldur's Gate 3. It is found in the Gauntlet of Shar, working as a servant for Balthazar.
Overview edit
After defeating various Dark Justiciars and Umbral Tremors outside Balthazar's room in the Gauntlet of Shar, the party can enter and talk with Balthazar. During the course of conversation, Balthazar can be asked about Flesh, and reveals that it is partly made up of pieces of his unborn twin brother.
The party can gain the ability to summon Flesh as a temporary ally if they ask Balthazar for supplies and succeed a DC 14 Persuasion check. He then gives the party the Summon Golem Bell which allows them to summon Flesh as an ally in battle anywhere inside the Gauntlet of Shar.[2] Doing so grants the Meat Shield inspiration to party members with the Noble background.
Combat edit
Tactics edit
Should the party wish to avoid fighting Flesh, Lyrthindor in rat form is an attractive option to dispose of him with minimal effort. A single party member can descend to the broken effigy, initiate the fight, summon Flesh in the first round with the bell, drink an Invisibility Potion, and stand back. Flesh and the Rats each have an AC of 11. Consequently he is virtually guaranteed to land his attacks on them and they on him. Their sheer number overwhelms him, as he only attacks one target per turn.
Attacks and abilities edit
Flesh will only attack using Slam, then after reaching a certain health threshold it will go Berserk and begin using its Multiattack instead.
On Tactician difficulty or higher, Corpulent Rage also grants permanent Reckless Attack.

Notes and References edit
- ↑ Unlike the rest of Balthzar's necromantic creations, Flesh is categorized as a construct rather than an undead due to being a Flesh Golem.
- ↑ Flesh cannot be healed by any spell or potion.[verify] If summoned by Balthazar's bell and Flesh is in, or enters the state of Corpulent Rage, it attacks the closest available target, including (former) allies. Therefore, if Flesh is in a state of rage when a combat encounter ends and the party returns to Balthazar, he and his retinue immediately become hostile and attack the party.
