Act One

You first learn about Ulder Ravengard during the quest Rescue the Grand Duke, when the player arrives near Waukeen's Rest. He is suspected to be trapped inside the burning inn, but after rescuing Counsellor Florrick she reveals that the Grand Duke has been kidnapped. The player learns that he was taken to Moonrise Towers by the followers of the Absolute, but when you arrive there, it turns out, that the Grand Duke Ravengard was infected with an illithid tadpole, and taken to Baldur's Gate.

When you arrive at Wyrm's Rock Fortress to attend his coronation, Duke Ravengard stands beside him to crown Gortash as the new Archduke.
