Sneak Attack is a rogue reaction. This ability allows the rogue to exploit an enemy's distraction and deal extra damage to their vulnerable spots with melee weapons.

The weapon must have the finesse property, but can still utilise Strength if it is higher than Dexterity.

Description

Deal extra damage to a foe you have Advantage Advantage against.

You can also Sneak Attack targets Threatened Threatened by adjacent allies provided you aren't attacking with Disadvantage Disadvantage.

At higher levels

For every 2 rogue levels above 1, your Sneak Attack deals an additional 1d6⁠Weapon⁠Weapon damage, up to 6d6 at level 11:

  • Sneak Attack (reaction) is explicitly coded to include throwing attacks (via Throw Throw, Enraged Throw Enraged Throw, and similar actions). The damage type will be the same as the equipped ranged weapon in the main hand (usually Piercing⁠Piercing). Sneak attack from Throw does not trigger if there is no ranged weapon equipped.
