Panache is a class action available to Swashbuckler rogues.

Description

Roll a Persuasion check to beguile a humanoid, who must contest it with an Insight check. Enemies who fail gain Panache: DisadvantagePanache: Disadvantage; others who fail become CharmedCharmed.

Doesn't work on beasts, constructs, elementals, monstrosities, plants, or undead.

In higher difficulty modes, the target might accuse the caster of enchanting them.

  • This action involves a contested skill check similar to ShoveShove. See Contests for details. In particular, the character rolls a PersuasionPersuasion skill check with a DC equal to the target's passive Insight score which is given by

    10 + Wisdom modifier + proficiency bonus (if proficient) + other bonuses.

    AdvantageAdvantage on Insight checks (or Wisdom checks in general) gives a +5 flat bonus to this DC, while DisadvantageDisadvantage reduces the DC by 5.
