Way of the Open Hand is one of the subclasses of Monk. It can be chosen at level 3. These monks are more specialized in using unarmed attacks to strike their opponents down.

Subclass features[edit | edit source]

Monk's default armour
This subclass obtains all the features from its base class, Monk, in addition to its unique features outlined below.

Flurry of Blows
Flurry of Blows: Topple Flurry of Blows: Topple
Use a Bonus action and a Ki Point to punch twice in quick succession and possibly knock the target Prone Prone.
Flurry of Blows: Stagger Flurry of Blows: Stagger
Use a Bonus action and a Ki Point to punch twice in quick succession and Stagger Stagger the target, making it unable to take reactions.
Flurry of Blows: Push Flurry of Blows: Push
Use a Bonus action and a Ki Point to punch twice in quick succession and possibly push the target 5 m / 17 ft.

Level 6

Manifestation of Mind, Body and Soul

Your hands sap the ki from your enemies' bodies. Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 1d4 + Wisdom ModifierDamage TypesNecrotic damage.

Your strikes interrupt the ki flow to your enemies' minds. Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 1d4 + Wisdom ModifierDamage TypesPsychic damage.

Infuse your strikes with ki from outside your body. Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 1d4 + Wisdom ModifierDamage TypesRadiant damage.
You can only have one of the above three toggleable features active at any time.

Wholeness of Body Wholeness of Body
Regain half your Ki Point and enter a temporary state of Wholeness where you regain 1 Ki Point per turn and have an extra Bonus action.
Restores 3 x Monk Levelhit points

Use an Action to hit a creature with your bare fists, making the ki in its body Resonate Resonate with yours. You can then make the ki explode with Ki Resonation: Blast.

Detonate the ki of a creature Resonating Resonating with you, hitting the creature and anyone within 5 m / 17 ft of it. The resulting explosion causes any nearby creatures Resonating with you to also detonate.
On a successful Dexterity saving throw, targets still take half damage.

Level 11

Tranquility Tranquility
Long Rests surround you with an aura of peace, granting you Sanctuary Sanctuary.
