Unarmoured Defence (Monk)

Unarmoured Defence is a Monk passive feature that adds a character's Wisdom modifier to their  Armour Class when not wearing armour or shields.

Description

Your reflexes are as effective as any armour. While not wearing armour, you add your Wisdom Modifier to your  Armour Class.

This effect does not stack with Mage Armour.

• Class level 1: Monk

Used by creatures:

• Mask of Terror (The Blushing Mermaid), Sina'zith

Notes

• The normal base  Armour Class is 10 + Dexterity modifier, while this changes it to 10 + Dexterity modifier + Wisdom modifier.
  • Characters with this passive still receive bonuses from other sources that do not change their base armour class like +1 AC robes,  Bracers of Defence,  Shield of Faith, etc.
• Helmets and Gloves marked as  Light,  Medium or  Heavy Armour count as armour, and prevent Unarmoured Defence from working.
• This does not work while wearing a  Shield, unlike its Barbarian counterpart.
•  Mage Armour,  Draconic Resilience,  Unarmoured Defence (Barbarian),  Unarmoured Defence (Monk) and  Barkskin all change a character's base armour class and therefore do not stack.
  • If a character has multiple of these they only benefit from the one that gives the most  Armour Class.
• Unarmoured Defence works while in  Wild Shape as long as the user has no armour equipped in any slot before they transform.
  • This effect only works on forms with a base  Armour Class less than this passive gives.
