Demir is a Human character in the Sunlit Wetlands. When the player first encounters him, he is pleading with Auntie Ethel Auntie Ethel to tell him where his sister Mayrina Mayrina is.

Can be spoken to with Speak with Dead Speak with Dead.

Interactions[edit | edit source]

When first entering the Sunlit Wetlands from the east, Demir and his brother Johl Johl can be encountered asking Auntie Ethel Auntie Ethel where their sister Mayrina Mayrina is and accusing Ethel of having taken her. The party can talk with the group to gain more information about the situation, learning that Mayrina disappeared and the last person to see her was Ethel. Throughout the encounter, Demir is pleading with her to tell them their sister is all right while she insists that she has no idea and is willing to help them look for her.

Eventually, the party is be forced to take sides in the conversation. If they decide to side with Auntie Ethel, Demir and Johl accuse the party of working with her and attack. If they do not side with Ethel, she chastises them and disappears in a burst of magic. The party can then talk to the two brothers and attempt to convince them not to follow her into the swamp. While Demir listens and is willing to take the party's advice if they offer to look for Mayrina instead, Johl refuses and drags his brother into the Sunlit Wetlands with him.

The corpses of Demir and his brother can be found in the wetlands, presumably they have been killed by Redcaps.

By toggling on Toggle Non-Lethal Attacks Toggle Non-Lethal Attacks during the fight, the brothers can be spared. Their corpses do not appear in the swamp, and the party has the option to tell Mayrina that her brothers are merely knocked unconscious. However, she still cries out that they are dead.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • If having a character who is very Stealthy, or someone who can cast Misty Step Misty Step, Dimension Door Dimension Door or otherwise get past Auntie Ethel and the brothers without notice, it is possible to reach the Ancient Sigil Circle to bring the rest of the party down. Then it is possible to disarm all of the traps. Afterwards the party must kill the 3 Redcaps and the 1 Redcap Blood Sage. After this is done, if returning to Johl and Demir and siding with them, then Auntie Ethel will disappear. The brothers will say they are going to try and rescue Mayrina and then they will disappear as well. At this point, the brothers are as saved as you can make them - they disappear into the swamp.
