South-west of the grotto, this unnamed area is unremarkable save for the empty giant bird nest.

As reward for the quest Defeat the Duergar Intruders, Sovereign Spaw will unlock the gate. It can otherwise be destroyed to enter the room beyond, but not lock-picked. Inside is some loot and the Pale Corpse of Xargrim which can be spoken to with .
