Counsellor Florrick is an elven wizard and advisor to the Archduke, personally leading a mission with the Flaming Fist to find the missing Grand Duke Ravengard. She plays a notable role in the politics brewing within Baldur's Gate, mainly through the Rescue the Grand Duke questline.

Overview

Description

Florrick is a professional and dutiful leading member of Baldur's Gate's government. While an advisor, she prefers to be direct and on-hand when it comes to handling problems that plague the city, such as the disappearance of Ulder Ravengard. Being such a straightforward and honest leader makes her quite a rarity in the corrupt ranks of the city's elite, along with being an enemy to most of them.

Quests

Involvement

Act One

Main article: Rescue the Grand Duke

Florrick is first encountered at Waukeen's Rest out on The Risen Road leading west towards the Mountain Pass. When arriving at the outpost, the place is on fire after an attack by goblins and Drow serving the Cult of the Absolute. Trapped on the second floor in the east-most room of the inn, she can be rescued from the blaze. Once saved, she informs the party of Duke Ravengard's recent kidnapping by the Drow, with them taking him west to Moonrise Towers.

She urges the party to help in saving the Duke, even more so if Wyll is in the party, who she reveals is Ulder's son. Once the party is rewarded for saving her, she will depart from Waukeen's Rest, taking the Flaming Fist soldiers with her to search for the Grand Duke.

Act Two

After reaching the Shadow-Cursed Lands, Florrick can be found at Last Light Inn. While there, she and her Flaming Fist troops are still planning a rescue for Ravengard. The player can speak with her, and gain some news from the city and its new Lord Gortash.

However, with their attempts to get information from Art Cullagh having failed, and Ketheric Thorm being invincible and nigh impossible to approach besides, Florrick will eventually depart for Baldur's Gate, intending to convince the council to send reinforcements for rescuing the duke.

Act Three

In Act Three, the party will find Florrick imprisoned in Wyrm's Rock Prison. Once rescued she pledges to aid the party and becomes one of the potential forces they can call upon during the final battle. If, however, the player doesn't rescue her within five long rests, she will be executed.

If Wyll decides to break his pact with Mizora during The Blade of Frontiers and forsake his father, she'll approach Wyll and the party while they are in Baldur's Gate, and threaten to attack to avenge Ravengard. She can be convinced to stand down with a DC 18 Persuasion check or a DC 15 History check.

If convinced, and since Ravengard is presumed dead, Florrick will direct the party to the next step of Wyll's companion quest: given by The Legend of Ansur.

Otherwise, she and her retinue of Flaming Fists will become hostile. The Legend of Ansur will need to be acquired by other means.

Combat

If confronted, Florrick may first attempt to cast Hypnotic Pattern or Magic Missile on the party, or teleport to a safe distance using Misty Step. She may also use her Potion of Greater Healing during combat to regain a large portion of missing hit points.

In Waukeen's Rest, it is best to kill her as soon as she is freed form the burning room, in order not to trigger the guards downstairs. In Wyrm's Rock Prison, she can be engaged through the prison cell door with ranged attacks and spells, and the nearby patrolling guards won't react to the fight.
