Destructive Wrath is a reaction available to Tempest Domain clerics. This ability allows these clerics to maximise Thunder and Lightning damage rolls by expending a Channel Divinity Charge.
Description
When you roll Thunder or Lightning damage, you can use your Channel Divinity to deal maximum damage instead.

Notes
- The reaction prompt will be shown before the attack roll of a triggering action is made. This means it may be wasted on an attack which ends up missing.
- Not every spell or action that deals lightning or thunder damage can trigger this reaction. Below is a list of player-accessible actions that work with Destructive Wrath.[1]
- Arrow of Lightning
- Call Lightning / Activate Call Lightning
- Chain Lightning
- Chromatic Orb / Sphere of Elemental Balance (Thunder or lightning variants only)
- Divine Strike: Thunder (Ranged) but not Divine Strike: Thunder (Melee)
- Heart of the Storm
- Lightning Arrow
- Lightning Bolt
- Lightning Breath
- Shatter / Gong of the Summit
- Shocking Grasp / Touch of the Storm
- Thunderous Smite
- Thunderwave / Fist of Four Thunders
- Witch Bolt / Activate Witch Bolt
- Wrath of the Storm
- Zephyr Flash but not Zephyr Break
- Other actions, even if they deal lightning or thunder damage, cannot trigger Destructive Wrath. Notable examples include:
- Destructive Wave
- Booming Blade
- Making a normal weapon attack with lightning or thunder damage riders
Bugs
- Destructive Wrath will trigger when casting the lightning or thunder variants of Glyph of Warding, but the damage of the ward explosion is unaffected.
- The reaction will also trigger when casting some spells which deal no damage.[1] Destructive Wrath will be wasted if used on these spells:
