The Wilderness on a region map.

The Wilderness is a region comprised of multiple locations in Chapter One of Baldur's Gate 3.

The Wilderness is a heavily forested area to the east of Baldur's Gate. A tribe of Goblins have made their home there, as well as several other types of monsters. Overgrown ruins can also be found here alongside several entrances to the Underdark.

It is the primary setting for the start of the game, and is visible on the map of the Over-world.

Access

No special action is required to reach this region. After completing the Prologue, the player will find themselves at a Location within the Wilderness known as the Ravaged Beach.

Regions and Locations

Due to its immense size, the map of the Wilderness features several nameless locations with unique elements, or locations that only appear named on the player's minimap. To help navigate this region, the locations below may include adjacent nameless areas of the Wilderness.

Waypoints

The following Waypoints are available within the Wilderness region.

South East Quadrant

The map areas that constitute the SE quadrant of the Wilderness.

Ravaged Beach

The Ravaged Beach is the location in the most SE quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable as the starting location for the player storyline.

This location is connects to the Chapel Entrance to the north, and an unnamed region of the map to the west, which contains the wreckage of the Nautiloid.

Chapel Entrance

The Chapel Entrance is a location in the SE quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for VISUAL_DESCRIPTION.

This location connects to the Ravaged Beach to the south, and an unnamed region of the map near the Roadside Cliffs.

"Roadside Cliffs"

Roadside Cliffs is a location in the SE quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is unnamed on the player minimap and is recognizable for VISUAL_DESCRIPTION.

This location connects to the Druid Grove to the north and the Forest to the west.

North East Quadrant

The map areas that constitute the NE Quadrant of the Wilderness.

Druid Grove

The Druid Grove is a settlement location in the most NE quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for its population of local Emerald Enclave druids who are hosting refugee tieflings fleeing from the city of Elturel.

This location connects to an unnamed region of the map near the Roadside Cliffs to the South, and the Risen Road to the West.

North West Quadrant

Risen Road

The Risen Road is a location in the north and central quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for VISUAL_DESCRIPTION.

This location connects to the Forest south, the Druid Grove to the east, and also both Waukeen's Rest and the Mountain Pass to the west.

Waukeen's Rest

Waukeen's Rest is a location in the most DIRECTIONAL quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for VISUAL_DESCRIPTION.

This location is adjacent to the ADJACENT_LOCATION.

Mountain Pass

The LOCATION_NAME is a location in the most DIRECTIONAL quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for VISUAL_DESCRIPTION.

This location is adjacent to the ADJACENT_LOCATION.

Central Quadrant

The map areas that constitute the Central Quadrant of the Wilderness.

Forest

The Forest is a location in the most DIRECTIONAL quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for VISUAL_DESCRIPTION.

This location is adjacent to the ADJACENT_LOCATION.

Blighted Village

The Blighted Village is a location in the centermost quadrant Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for VISUAL_DESCRIPTION.

This location is surrounded by the Forest on all sides.

South Quadrant

Sunlit Swamp

The LOCATION_NAME is a location in the most DIRECTIONAL quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for LOCATION_DESCRIPTION.

This location is adjacent to the ADJACENT_LOCATION.

West Central Quadrant

Goblin Camp

The Gobling Camp is a settlement location in the far west quadrant of the Wilderness map. This area is labeled on the player minimap and is recognizable for VISUAL_DESCRIPTION.

This location connects to the Forest to the east, and the Sunlit Wetlands to the South.

Harper Cache

West of the crashed Nautiloid, down a ledge near the water is a scuffed rock X: 141 Y: 282. Succeeding on a Nature check will reveal deep grooves around it. If a character strong enough can move the rock, an Ornate Chest underneath will be revealed. This chest contains:

And a small amount of gold and gemstones.
