Efrin Hammerborn
Involvement[edit | edit source]
Act One[edit | edit source]
The party can interact with Efrin when he is petrified, or after Auntie Ethel is killed. However, defeating Ethel without killing her - such as accepting Auntie Ethel's Hair in exchange for her freedom - does not lift the curse, and causes Efrin to die if interacted with.
Before or without killing the Hag[edit | edit source]
When first meeting Efrin, he is . Using a Basilisk Oil potion at his feet cures him of the status condition and initiates a conversation with him. He reveals he has a disease called "The Bite" (also called Laduguer's Bite). Efrin yells at the party for "saving" him while the disease is not cured and immediately dies.
Casting on Efrin after he dies provides more information about his life including his surname and family status.
After killing the Hag[edit | edit source]
After killing the hag, Efrin's curse is broken and he is unpetrified. He begins a conversation with the party immediately, warning that he has a disease called "The Bite". Depending on dialogue choices, it can be discovered that the curse was actually an infliction caused by the hag as well and Efrin is cured as well as freed. Unique dialogue options are present for all dwarves, including duergars. He curses the hag, swears that he will repay the party for his freedom, and escapes from the tunnel.
