Act Three[edit | edit source]
Avourel is in Bloomridge Park discussing the state of the Flaming Fists with Eldaernth, Thokki, and Vistra.
Idle banter[edit | edit source]
Vistra: 'Absolute' this... 'end of the world' that... These young folk've no idea how good they've got it.
- Eldaernth: Come off it, Vistra. You've been doing this same rant for years.
- Avourel: Yeah, the first lot of young folk you said it about are old folk now!
- Vistra: Piss off, the lot of youse.
- Avourel: Yeah, the first lot of young folk you said it about are old folk now!
Eldaernth: You're remembering the past pretty fondly, Vistra. Bit too fondly.
- Vistra: What d'you mean?
- Eldaernth: You telling me you'd have refused the Steel Watch's help on Returning Day a decade ago?
- Vistra: You'll, uh... remind me?
- Eldaernth: Big horrible beast? Slaughtered Duke Adrian? We could do bugger all about it?
- Thokki: Lost a lot of good men that day.
- Eldaernth: Big horrible beast? Slaughtered Duke Adrian? We could do bugger all about it?
- Vistra: You'll, uh... remind me?
- Eldaernth: You telling me you'd have refused the Steel Watch's help on Returning Day a decade ago?
Vistra: You make a good point, Eldaernth.
- Eldaernth: You've known me long enough, Vistra. When haven't I?
- Vistra: We could've used the Steel Watch back in the day. But that's because we fought actual threats. Back when the Fists were real Fists. Not bloody...
- Avourel: Limp gloves.
- Vistra: We could've used the Steel Watch back in the day. But that's because we fought actual threats. Back when the Fists were real Fists. Not bloody...
Eldaernth: So, Vistra. You reckon we'd still be better Fists than the current cohort?
- Vistra: Peace of piss, mate. Easy. Yes.
- Eldaernth: Great. So let's get you out of that chair and into your chain mail, then? Show the young lot how it's done?
- Vistra: Uh... Well...
- Thokki: My armour's not fit for years.
- Avourel: Yeah, to be honest? Thought of holding a pike makes my back ache.
- Eldaernth: It's a young man's game. Right, Vistra?
- Vistra: 'Spose.
- Eldaernth: It's a young man's game. Right, Vistra?
- Avourel: Yeah, to be honest? Thought of holding a pike makes my back ache.
- Thokki: My armour's not fit for years.
- Vistra: Uh... Well...
- Eldaernth: Great. So let's get you out of that chair and into your chain mail, then? Show the young lot how it's done?
Vistra: Look, all I'm saying is they've got it easier these days.
- Thokki: Yeah, we didn't have these big metal bastards running the streets back in my day.
- Eldaernth: Thanks to the bloody Iron Crisis we barely had any metal back then.
- Vistra: You're right, you're right. We Fists had to proper fight back then. We knew how to watch each other's backs.
- Eldaernth: Helm give me strength.
- Vistra: You're right, you're right. We Fists had to proper fight back then. We knew how to watch each other's backs.
- Eldaernth: Thanks to the bloody Iron Crisis we barely had any metal back then.
After the ambush in Bloomridge Park:
Eldaernth: Not seen action like that in a while.
- Vistra: Those cultists are lucky they were on the other side of the park. Lucky.
- Avourel: You'd have taken them, would you, Vistra?
- Vistra: Reckon so.
- Eldaernth: Bollocks. These days we'd sooner throw our backs than a proper punch.
- Thokki: Well, I, for one, count my lucky stars it happened elsewhere.
- Avourel: Same here. My knees are buggered already, never mind running after cultists.
- Thokki: Well, I, for one, count my lucky stars it happened elsewhere.
- Eldaernth: Bollocks. These days we'd sooner throw our backs than a proper punch.
- Vistra: Reckon so.
- Avourel: You'd have taken them, would you, Vistra?
