The Underdark is a territory comprised of multiple locations in Chapter One.

The Underdark is a vast system of caverns and tunnels devoid of sunlight which stretch beneath the lands of Faerûn. It is a dangerous place, home to evil beings, powerful creatures, and outlandish flora. The Drow and Deep Gnomes are native to the Underdark.

Access

Due to its immense size, there are multiple access points into the Underdark from overland. All of them involve traveling (or falling) deep into the depths of the world.

The following locations contain known access points into the Underdark:

Regions and Locations

Due to its immense size, the map of the Underdark features several nameless locations with unique elements, or named locations that only appear on the player's minimap. To help navigate this region, the locations below may include adjacent nameless areas of the Underdark.

⚠️ Please note that while Grymforge and The Festering Cove are technically contained within the Underdark territory, their locations are found on separate maps.

The following Waypoints are available within the Underdark territory.

North East Region

Storehouse

The Storehouse is a location in the most north-eastern quadrant of the Underdark map. This primary area, when labeled on the player minimap, is recognizable for its aging pale wooden interior and is free of any enemies.

Enter the Underdark through this area when departing from the overland's Zhentarim Basement.

"Minotaur Hills"

Considered part of the Storehouse, this nameless area of the Underdark is recognizable thanks to its bright green grass and whimsical red mushrooms with swirling paths featuring wandering Minotaurs. This unique area is directly adjacent to the south of the Storehouse, after climbing down the rope netting.

Enter the Underdark through this area when departing from the overland's Whispering Depths.

North Central Region

Ebonlake Grotto

Ebonlake Grotto is a location centered between the NE and NW corners of the Underdark map. This primary area, when labeled on the player minimap, is recognizable for its densely packed oversized mushrooms, and roaming Myconids amidst which reside several NPCs and merchants.

Enter the Underdark through this area only after unlocking the Myconid Colony waypoint here.

"Myconid Minefield"

Considered part of the Ebonlake Grotto, this nameless area of the Underdark is recognizable for being full of dangerous mushrooms such as Timmask and Bibberbang. Pass through and speak to the Myconid NPCs when you arrive in this area if you wish.

This unique area is directly adjacent to the south-east of Ebonlake Grotto.

"Giant Bird Nest"

Considered part of the Ebonlake Grotto, this nameless area of the Underdark is a rather unremmarkable corridor connecting Ebonlake Grotto, the Dread Hollow and the Decrepit Village. It is most recognizable for the giant bird's nest.

This unique area is directly adjacent to the south-west of Ebonlake Grotto.

North West Region

Dread Hollow

The Dread Hollow is a location in the NW corner of the Underdark map. This primary area, when labeled on the player minimap, is recognizable for its brightly shining Sussur Trees, and the roaming Hook Horrors, amidst which resides a singular NPC.

Entering the Underdark through this area from the surface is unknown.

"Bibberbang Grotto"

Considered part of the Dread Hollow, this nameless area of the Underdark is recognizable for being densely covered with the dangerous mushroom, Bibberbang, which has ensnared Baelen.

This unique area is directly adjacent approximately north of Dread Hollow, on a lower level.

Dread Hollow South

Considered part of the Dread Hollow this nameless area of the Underdark is recognizable for being a sparse soil clearing, featuring a lonely Tombstone amidst the rocks lining this area.

This unique area is directly adjacent approximately south of Dread Hollow.

South West Region

Arcane Tower

The Arcane Tower is a location in the SW corner of the Underdark map. This primary area, when labeled on the player minimap, is recognizable by its neatly built stone entryway that opens to a front garden featuring Arcane Turrets.

"Torchstalk Gulch"

Considered part of the Arcane Tower, this nameless area of the Underdark is recognizable by its dark brown paths paved with deep red mushroom clusters and spots of Torchstalk that cast floating embers into the air.

This unique area is directly adjacent east of the Arcane Tower.

Enter the Underdark through this area when departing from the overland's Gnarled Teahouse via the Mushroom Circle.

Festering Cove

The Festering Cove is a partially hidden location on a separate Underdark map, containing the Kuo-toa worshipping their god, BOOOAL.

It is reached after climbing down the cragged rock in the Torchstalk area at X: 80 Y-241.

South East Region

Selûnite Outpost

The Selûnite Outpost is a location in the SE corner of the Underdark map.. This primary area, when labeled on the player minimap, is recognizable by it's crumbling stone walls, grated windows, and tattered blue banners to the goddess Selûne. A statue of the goddess holds up a bright moonstone, which channels energy into the front gate's defenses.

Enter the Underdark through this area when departing from the overland's Goblin Camp.

"Abandoned Battlefield"

Considered part of the Selûnite Outpost, this nameless area of the Underdark is recognizable by its field of scattered wooden barricades and long-dead skeletons of ancient fighters.

This unique area is directly adjacent north of the Selûnite Outpost.

"Petrified Battlefield"

Considered part of the Selûnite Outpost, this nameless area of the Underdark is recognizable by it's purple Glowing Gems and several petrified Drow and a Spectator.

This unique area is directly adjacent west of the Selûnite Outpost.

Central Region

Decrepit Village

The Decrepit Village is the most central location on the Underdark map, and a multi-level area. When labeled on the player minimap, is recognizable for its ramshackle wooden structures and rope netting enclosures, though the north-eastern most portion has more mushrooms and a typical underdark appearance.

You may find Holvik, Gehk Coal, Novice Gamor, and Lurgan here.

Beach

Part of the Decrepit Village location, this lowest level of the Decrepit Village features a sandy beach strewn with the bodies of dead Deep Gnomes and Duergar. A boat rests at one dock, ready to take the player to Grymforge based on the story path of their choosing.

Grymforge

Grymforge is an expansive and abandoned settlement location on a separate Underdark map, containing the Adamantine Forge It is reached after taking the boat located at the Decrepit Village Beach.

Notable NPCs

⚠️ Please note that while Grymforge and The Festering Cove are technically contained within the Underdark territory, due to having unique maps, their NPCs and Merchants are not listed here.
