“Harpers nesting in your cellar tends to scare off business. So if you mean to sling some coin around, only Jaheira will complain.„
Overview[edit | edit source]
Danthelon's Dancing Axe is an armour and weapon store located in a spacious three-storied building in the north-west of Wyrm's Crossing. It occupies ground and first floors of the building, and a vast cellar beneath the ground level. The cellar is actually a rendezvouz location for the Harpers, of which Danthelon is well aware, providing them not only the room, but cover as well.
The store owner and trader is Entharl Danthelon. He can be found inside, behind the counter, while two guards, Half-Orc brothers Somi and Tairn, patrol the store.
The entrance to the store is on the first floor, which is also the showroom. There are several display cases here, containing uncommon and rare pieces of armour and weapons. The cases are red-outlined but unlocked. Some items displayed in them are same as in Danthelon's stock (e.g., Studded Leather Armour +2 and
Hide Armour +2), but are not included in it while trading with him. In the far corner a wicker chest contains several random potions, possibly including
Potions of Superior Healing.
Also, near the entrance the party can steal two supply packs (on a shelf and inside the wardrobe), and a
Heavy Supply Pack on another shelf - the only such known item in the game.
If spoken to, Entharl Danthelon first tries to play dumb, as if not knowing anything about the "Harpers" or anyone going by the name "Jaheira". However, he quickly relents and gives the player character a Rusty Key from the back room. Otherwise, the backroom can be accessed from the outside balcony. The balcony, in turn, can be reached by walking through the potions shop above, or climbing up the ladder at X: -5 Y: 152.
The backroom has plenty of various containers inside. All are red-outlined, but it does make sense to rummage about, closing the door upfront. The party can loot several useful items like Potions of Superior Healing,
Thieves' Tools or
Trap Disarm Toolkits. An open trapdoor with an iron ladder leads downwards to the cellar.
Inside, Harper Geraldus awaits with three more Harpers, who are quickly revealed as doppelgangers and must be fought. If Jaheira is in the party, she immediately recognizes a codeword in Geraldus' speech and tries to alert the party. If left at camp, the player character may try to of the false Harper or Geraldus, to catch the enemy off guard. It is advisable to pay attention to where the party is positioned when starting the battle, as there is an Oil Barrel laying in the middle of the cellar, and all shapeshifters (except their leader Chelvin) have
Arrows of Fire on them.
After the fight, the cellar can be looted. There are three Heavy Chests (X: -18 Y: 154, X: -19 Y: 136 and X: -26 Y: 141), as well as a Supply Pack and some Camp Supplies. A
Kill Order from Orin the Red can be found on Hemm's body, and
Surveillance Notes written by this pack of doppelgangers can also be found on a table on an inner balcony.
Upon returning from the cellar, the party can speak to Danthelon again. He outrages on the ruckus, but doesn't turn hostile, regardless of the actual way the party entered his cellar. He may be traded with either before or after the fight with false Harpers.
